About the Historical genre:

Wikipedia's definition - Historical fiction is a literary genre in which
the plot takes place in a setting located in the past.

A novel's setting and the date it was written is a completely different thing.  The difference between these dates in novels is identified by the term  'a primary or secondary source'. A great example of a primary source is the Diary of a Young Girl: Anne Frank which was written about the second world war, during the war. However, some novels are written in modern day but are based on 'true stories and events' these are called secondary sources. I will be blogging about both of these types, which means we can make comparisons and conclusions from them.

I chose to explore this genre as I've never really got into it - the thought of it sort of puts me off (history = boring) but I think I'm going to find myself proven wrong. I'm fascinated to learn more about what happened in the past as it influences us in the present day as well as in the future!

Few! Boring bit over. Sorry if that wasn't particularly fascinating but I think it was necessary (Plus my English teacher will find it informative and it might get me a better grade!:).

Maybe take a look at the upcoming books if you want to re-spark your interest.

Happy reading, Kate x
